I help run a small independent label in North London with a huge catalogue. We're quite tech-heavy compared to other true independents and do as much as possible in-house. All of our major systems, e.g. stock control, accounts, catalogue, mail are open source or stuff we wrote ourselves over the years--not that I had anything to do with the first 20 years of development. I'm particularly interested in using Perl to make legacy systems work (Sculptor, anyone?) work well into the future and to do cool stuff for record companies (we have our own digital distribution suite, written in Perl). |
