Many services on CPAN distributions collect their own information. This is doable, but rather tricky for the current CPAN situation. It's much harder when replaying history, being useful for companies.

The collected meta-data could be used to feed cpants, to automated linux-package generators, remove the need for a local mini-cpan, and more.

A new service offers very detailed meta-data on **any** distribution ever uploaded to CPAN (so, the whole of backpan) adding as much facts as possible.
