YAPC::Europe 2011 “Modern Perl”

The logotype of YAPC::Europe is a part of our visual identity. The logo should have had direct indication of the place where the conference takes place, Riga. There are several objects which are considered the symbols of the city. I was thinking about the logo for a few weeks, and in July of 2010 I made a sketch of it with a cat sitting on the cone roof.

The cat sits on top of the building at Meistaru street, 10 in the Old Town.

Yet to add, the logotype was ready before the YAPC::Europe Venue Committee selected Riga as a host city for 2011.
